I have some fantastic news! I have been accepted into the Denius-Sams Gaming Academy at the University of Texas. They have given me full paid tuition and a $10,000 living expense stipend so I can focus on getting my education. The academy is focused on leadership roles and not on how to actually make games. This will be an intense 9 month academy led by industry veteran, Warren Spector! First day of class begins August 27th, 2014. I can’t wait!
Things have been really busy as of late. Working hard on Team Notion and preparing my partner, Edward Dennis, for his move from Arizona to Texas to push Notion Games with me. We have taken that next big step in our independent game dev journey and want to put our all in this.
There are a lot of cool news coming soon on the progress of Team Notion’s development. If you’d like to get all the cool news first, be sure to head to PureNintendo.com/Magazine and subscribe. Every issue they will be covering the latest details on Team Notion’s development.
Speaking of Pure Nintendo magazine, it felt amazing to see the projects I’ve worked on in the latest issue. It’s really a great feeling to know that all the hard work is starting to pay off. Is there bucketloads of money falling from the ceiling… no. But this isn’t what we do this for. We love to create and make people happy to play something that we have worked hard on.
The studio is complete (for now) and I have been working pretty much every day in it. It’s so amazing to see how far Notion has come since starting it in 2012. It’s still an uncertain venture in terms of financial success but everything has been going on so far makes it worth it. Take a look at the small, humble studio. Let us know what you think.
Some of you guys may be asking, “when’s Super Ubie Island coming to the Wii U?!”
There has been a lot of problems dealing with our game engine and programmers to get the game ported over to the Wii U. We are now looking at Unity and have contracted NewGen Interactive to create the port. We will have updates on Super Ubie Island’s Wii U progress soon.
