Indie Mega Launch!

https://www.facebook.com/events/525384514305477/

I literally woke up sweating after having a dream of Super Ubie Island coming out and just crashing and burning. Next Friday, the game launches on Steam. The game is launching together with 4 other games and will be on sale with a 25% discount! Even though I have a publisher tied to the marketing of the game, I still feel extremely anxious. I’ve tried to promote as much as I can and though there are people who know about it, it doesn’t mean they’ll BUY it.

It’s like this is a make or break situation. Let me explain… I love to create. It’s in my blood. It’s who I AM. But at some point you do have to realize that you may have to focus on something else if it isn’t making ends meet. If the game doesn’t sell well, then I’d have to create another game spending roughly another 2 years to complete it, then try selling it again. The amount of time, energy and money is what makes that such a daunting task again.

I’ve put my all to make it to this point. Can Notion Games LLC make it to the next level? Can it grow from just being a solo man operation and be able to hire more staff to create bigger, better projects? Is my dream to create suitable content that everyone can enjoy with diverse casts (African Americans. Latinos, Women, etc) and make a living doing so while creating jobs too great for me to achieve? Stay tuned for the next episode of Dragon- just kidding. Seriously though, I don’t know and that uncertainty is partly what drove me to give it a shot but is also now what’s making me doubt myself.

Super Ubie Island releases next Friday, let’s make it a success! Click to attend the event and post a comment to let my publishers know that you guys want Super Ubie Island Remix!

Super Ubie Land in Nintendo Force Magazine #5

The latest issue of Nintendo Force is here and Super Ubie Land is in it! I’m really excited! It’s really cool to see that Pokemon X/Y is on the cover. It feels strange growing up playing games like Pokemon and being in the same magazine as it. I can’t explain the feeling

Special shout out to Emily Rogers for all of her support and belief in Notion Games.

Final Trailer for Super Ubie Land

I am in the final stretch of the game! I still have some all nighters to pull but it feels great to have made it this far. I estimate that I have about two weeks of work left on the game before I can declare it finished and ready for extreme testing. Here is the final trailer for Super Ubie Land:

I have put a lot into this project and I really hope I can get support and I especially hope that you guys enjoy it.

I will post the first set of videos of me playing around with the idea of a game inspired from Mario, Kirby, and Donkey Kong Country. This is where I was at with the game 1 year ago. Just a character and a concept for a fun platformer:

The video above showed my very first attempt at making something move in Construct 2 (an HTML5 game engine). You can see there a huge differences in the graphics quality. This was also a time where I was teaching myself how to transition my art style from comic books and concept art to full on game sprites. It was definitely a learning experience and something that I am still trying to master.

And here is the very first trailer I made after a few months of development. I was eager to post any progress that I had made on the game.

Well, I need to get back to work. Still a lot of things I need to take care of. I hope you guys are eager to play the final product. Thanks for the support!
